Exciting plans are in the works for the old “Praxair site” in the Northwest quadrant of Lafayette Square. The corner of Jefferson and Chouteau will soon be home to new apartments, retail, green spaces, and a hotel – all designed to be walkable, urban, and environmentally friendly.
Ever since the infamous explosion here in 2005, we’ve had our collective fingers crossed that this part of the neighborhood would be reborn. After a few attempts over the last decade, we’re getting a look at the plans for a mixed-use development that aims to break ground in June 2018.
Several community meetings have been held by the development team (separate from LSRC meetings) to gather feedback and then modify the design. Evidence of this process is more detailed within this full set of redevelopment plans. But, here are a few images that will give you a sense of what’s coming.
